- Our parents found inspiration everywhere
Our parents found inspiration everywhere they went, and they collected prodigiously. Art and objects from primitives to Deco to modern – all of it influenced their work and filled their various homes. The personal collection of Vladimir Kagan and Erica Wilson is so unique because it illustrates the journey from inspiration to the iconic designs that are so well known today. The family lived with all of these pieces – they became part of the rich fabric of our daily lives and now we are thrilled to share them with the public ensuring that our parent’s legacy will live on beyond them."-Jessica Kagan Cushman, Edition number is /100, stamp on top left, stamp on right side lower, not been inspected out of frame, no glass.

- GEORGE VAN MILLETT (1864-1953)
GEORGE VAN MILLETT (1864-1953) OIL ON CANVASGeorge Van Millett (Missouri, Kansas, 1864-1953)A Moment to Herself (1898)While known primarily as a landscape artist, George 'Van' Millet was known to paint the occasional genre scene. For many of these, the artist includes the word 'moment' in the title. This makes sense as G. V. Millet chose subjects for these genre and interior scenes that were very evocative of a moment, or a mood, which he was skilled at capturing on canvas. Here a young woman in a hoop back chair sits in a small kitchen by an open window with a mixing bowl on its ledge above a dry sink with utensils, her sewing basket on a Windsor stool in front of her and a broom and bucket behind her. All of these she'll work with later, but for now, as the title says, she has a moment to herself lost in thought, and some needlework. The painting is signed and dated lower right front. The title is A Moment to Herself.Canvas measures 21.25 x 16.25 with a framed size of 26.25 x 21.25 inches.Very good condition noting a nickel-sized area of inpainting upper right quadrant. There are no other issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.Provenance: A private Kansas City collection.

- Andre Durenceau, Inspirations,
Andre Durenceau, Inspirations, Twenty four pochoir plates showing 128 compositions. Sheet size 17 1/2" x 14", Printed by Birnbaum-Jackson Co., Philadelphia and published by H.C. Perleberg, Woodstock, New York, circa 1928. Andre Durenceau was born in Paris in 1904. He studied art there, specializing in modern decorative art. In 1923 he came to America, which had been slow to adopt the style of the French pochoir pattern books. He soon learned to combine his French training with American conceptions, and the result was Inspirations. This is one of the very few pochoir folios produced in the United States. Estimate $300-500
