Included are: three cards, one certifying a period of active duty in the U.S. Navy (March 15, 1957- May 22, 1959), and two membership cards from the Fleet Reserve Club of Annapolis, M.D.; one American Legion pin; one Naval medal; one medal for service during WWII; one medal for "service during limited emergency"; four sterling silver Submarine Combat Patrol Insignia pins with accompanying box and descriptive paperwork; two sterling silver submarine dolphin service pins; and five Naval uniform bars, presented in a tin box from the American Optical Company which measures 6" in length by 3-1/2" in width by 3-1/4" in height. All measurements are approximate.

Cheney Wells, Southbridge, Massachusetts, No. 49; height: 85 in., width: 19 in., depth: 10 1/4 in. Provenance: Property from the J. Cheney Wells Clock Collection, Southbridge, Massachusetts. The Estate of a New England Clock Collector. Other Notes: Joel Cheney Wells (1874-1960) worked with his father, George W. Wells and two brothers in the family business, American Optical Corporation in Southbridge, Massachusetts. In the early 1920's Cheney began collecting clocks and over three decades acquired over 100 tall case clocks, shelf clocks, mantle clocks, and banjo clocks. Joel and his younger brother, Albert B. Wells, spearheaded the founding of Old Sturbridge Village Museum in 1936. The J. Cheney Wells Clock Gallery opened at OSV in May of 1982. Condition: Condition: Minor inpainting to dial at posts and just below XII; tight splits to bonnet door arch; right pillar of bonnet loose; bottom right brass quarter column mount off but present; feet and possibly fret restored; tin can weights, pendulum, and key present; small splits to base panel at corners.
