Ben Shahn, (American, 1898-1969). Offset lithographs accompanying Wendell Berry's memorial poem, "November Twenty Six Nineteen Hundred Sixty Three," 1963. Subject was a tribute to John F. Kennedy, and a memorial to his death. Signed, framed behind glass, 30" x 30. Born in Lithuania to an orthodox Jewish family, Shahn became one of America's leading Social-Realist painters, addressing causes related to social injustices. In 1998, the Jewish Museum in New York City organized a traveling exhibition of his works that he created between 1936 and 1965.
