VICTORIAN ERA SCRAPBOOK WITH SANTA CLAUS, 1880S A period scrap book dated March 1876 on the verso and adorned with embossed Santa Claus figures in four phases from making toys to coming down the chimney, to placing gifts in a stocking, and finally relaxing with his pipe after the tour. Santa is surrounded by gilded holly leaves with berries. Nine blank leaves fill out the inside with every other one having a large colorful paper die cut rose tipped in. The spine has an elaborately detailed depiction of flowers in a vase and geometric symbols, more flowers, and a what looks at the top a curtain. The back cover has an impressed design of a bundle of ribbon and three tassels all bound together. Inside the front cover is the provenance of the original owner written in as MC, Hinneville, Oregon and below printed as such. Presented to C.E. Hadson by his mother, in three lines, Dec 25, 1883.

EARLY 20TH CENTURY GILT BRONZE GARNITURE SET Each candelabrum is 5" thick x 6" wide at base x 17 ?" tall The garnitures feature a trefoil pattern base of statuary marble, supported by bun feet, with inset bronze berry and vine decorations. A plinth rises from the base, featuring a brown patinated prancing putto, supporting a four lite, floral scroll decorated branch top. Looking towards the clock face, the right side putto, wears a gold headband, not worn by the left putto. Both putto are different castings, being correct left/right oriented. Clock trefoil base is 7 ¾" thick x 13 ¾ " wide, Clock 18 ? " tall. The clock base of statuary marble, is the same trefoil pattern, decorated with inset panels similar to the candelabrum, except with a bow and quiver panel, flanked by rectangular floral elements. A bronze trimmed undercut column, meets the bronze clock cylinder. There are two scroll shaped buttresses flanking the column. Decorated with a acanthus leaf, and vine and berry elements. Resting on the bronze clock cylinder, on the flanks at two and ten, reside a putto, draping a garland of a vine with berries. Rising from the clock cylinder is a Doric form column, topped with crossed torch and quiver, and accented with a leaf and berry garland. The burning torch is a symbol of life and truth, the quiver represents the willingness to use force if necessary to seek justice. Used by Louis XVI on many of his personal objects; to convey the message. The enamel dial has arabic numerals for all chapters, decorated with a continuous rose garland in two and one-half minute intervals. All minute marks are black dots at the dial's edge, not at 3, 6, 9 and 12, rather marked in 15, 30, 45 and 60; for the quarter hours. Gold gilt Louis XV minute/hour hands. Full plate Japy type, rack and snail movement. Rolled spring steel gong. Has original pendulum.
