WILKINSON TOBY JUG - BOTHATo the Toby Jug collector, the pinnacle of any collection is owning the original set of World War I Allied Commanders Tobys created by the Wilkinson Royal Pottery in Staffordshire, England. General Louis Botha, first Prime Minister of the Union of South Africa and a commander of British forces during the First World War, is depicted sitting down, wearing the dress uniform of a Boer War general, and holding a jug inscribed LOYALTY. Originally produced from 1915 to 1919, these Toby Jugs are considered some of the finest examples ever produced by an English ceramic company. Royal Staffordshire backstamp.

Gen. C.J.Cuthbert C.B.', with full gilt GVR buttons and epaulettes(2)red coat 71cm long, black frock coat 109cm longNote: Major-General Gerald James Cuthbert CB CMG (British 1861 – 1931) was a British Army officer who commanded a battalion in the Boer War and a division in the First World War. Cuthbert joined the Scots Guards in 1882 and served in Egypt and the Sudan during the late 19th century. During the Boer War he served with his regiment, rising to command a battalion and after the war he was given command of a brigade in the Territorial Force and then in the British Expeditionary Force of 1914. He served on the Western Front from 1914 to 1917, rising to command 39th Division, then returned to home service before retiring in 1919.
