Condition:
Each in good condition overall with normal wear associated with silver of this age and use including but not limited to a slight depression in finial area of lid, there are expected light scratches on underside, the engraved areas are slightly worn and handle is probably a later replacement but appropriate in its style and being of horn. The sugar urn has tiny dings on plinth, some scattered small areas of old varnish residue throughout and the engraved areas are slightly worn but still exhibit crisp details. AN ASSEMBLED AMERICAN COIN SILVER TEA SERVICE A four piece set including: a coin silver teapot with mark of Gale & Hayden, dated 1847 (10 3/4 in.); a coin silver creamer and sugar bowl with cover, both with mark of Gale, Wood & Hughes, circa 1833-1845; and a sterling silver waste bowl with mark of W. Gale & Son of New York, dated 1862.
Each piece engraved "Doolittle" to one shield form cartouche, the decorative motifs include chased and engraved morning glories and rose blossoms, the teapot with acanthus leaf finial, the sugar bowl with morning glory finial, each piece with die rolled lappet motif border.
Included with the lot is a later F. B. Rogers Silver Co. Dynasty silverplate waiter tray (25 1/2 x 14 1/2 in.).
