Columbia Graphophone ''Toy'' 1899Columbia Graphophone ''Toy'' 1899 The success of Berliner's Gramophone late-90s filled Columbia with lust for a piece of the action. Columbia threw its support into ventures designed to diminish Berliner and did indeed bring chaos to the disc industry but the only machine it was able to release under its own name prior to 1901 was the ephemeral ''Toy.'' This is a fine example of this rarity including the original wooden box no lid. Condition: The records were made of the same wax-like material as the early cylinders Columbia was producing. Full box of brown wax records. Replica support.Provenance: Dr. Richard PopeE
