CHINA CABINET. Barney and SmithCHINA CABINET. Barney and Smith Manufacturing Company Dayton Ohio late 19th century cast brass. Unusual cabinet of cast brass with six doors. 54''h. 38''w. 13 1/2''d. Barney and Smith was established in 1849 to build cars for horse-drawn street cars but before long the company was building railroad sleeper cars. According to tradition this cabinet was made for Barney and Smith's showroom. The horrific 1913 flood essentially put the company out of business. The man charged with dispersing the contents of the company showroom acquired this cabinet at that time and the current owner acquired it from him. Condition reports are available on all items.
