Most are routine legal and business documents and not all men were serving as governor when the papers were signed. All items encapsulated or housed in plastic sleeves, in overall good condition with expected age related condition issues: toning, fading, light foxing, discoloration, small tears and losses, scattered pencil inscriptions.

CHINESE EXPORT DEWITT CLINTON PLATE Jiaqing Era, circa 1810 plate executed in overglazed Famille Rose enamels, border with Eight Immortals and gilt cypher of DeWitt Clinton, center with pagoda river scene with cherry blossom trees. 9 in. Diam. DeWitt Clinton(1769-1828) was a New York senator, mayor and its seventh governor. He was also a presidential candidate in 1812. He heavily pushed for the construction of the Erie Canal.
