CHINESE WOODEN FOO DOG CUP W/ SILVERED TIN LINING W/ BO...One 18th c. Chinese libation cup in the form of a foo dog. Well carved from bamboo root, which is traditionally the most difficult carving medium of 18th and 19th century China. This root carving is redesigned to be reminiscent of those made from rhinoceros horn. The dog must be turned upside down to reveal the drinking hollow, which in this case has been lined with silvered tin. With silk box.

SILVER. ANTIQUE ENGLISH SILVER DOG CUP. An exceptional late Georgian early Victorian period English silver footed cup executed in the repousse style with an interior gold wash. This cup features an acanthus leaf and shell scroll feet, central image of a boy lying on a dog / wolfs back outside a door flanked on both sides by heavy scroll work, and and a scroll handle. With a city stamp of London, maker's mark of John Wilmin Figg, and a date letter of 1837. Total approx. weight is 3.28 troy oz (gross). from a Manhattan, NY estate. Dimensions cup measures approx. 2.75" in height. Condition: Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents.
