THREE OFFICERS DRESS SWORDS, ONE NAMED Three US officer's dress swords, the first an Ames (American), M1860 officers dress sword, with an eagle and stars pommel, an eagle guard and an etched blade with patriotic symbols including eagles, flags, drums, and the letters N. S. H. S. C; the second, a WW1 period US Navy officer?s m1852 sword made by E. Pietrangelo (Annapolis, MD) having a gilded handle and guard above a blade etched with patriotic symbols of Navy life, including anchors, eagle, knots, anchor with shield and 15 stars, with an ornate scabbard mount; the third sword a M1860, made and sold by Charles Svendsen (Cincinnati Oh), having a pommel with an eagle on one side and a coat of arms on the other, a wire wrapped shagreen covered grip, a guard with patriotic symbols above a blade etched with an open book, presumed to be a bible, florals and geometric shapes, named to John F. Haskell, pommel top with an eagle and sides lined with oak leaves and acorns, knuckle guard adorned with a scaled sea serpent leading down to the guard with a string of oak leaves and acorns, the shagreen grip bound by brass wire, the blade with owner's name engraved and surrounded by elaborate etching, including geometric designs, an anchor with a shield affixed to its shaft, 13 stars, and a patriotic symbol group; verso having the manufacturer's information, florals, an eagle sitting on a cannon, anchor and rope, USN, and oak leaves and acorns, with a scabbard having knot mounts; the second sword manufactured by W. The blade is engraved with florals and patriotic symbols starting at the hilt and running more than half the length to the tip, including drums, eagles, cannons, us flags, shields and halberds, the scabbard chape has a patriotic design containing crossed flags and pikes, other side has three stars; the second sword is unmarked, complete with scabbard and with a hand guard decorated with an eagle surrounded by two lion head symbols, one on each edge of the guard.
