Eli Terry Connecticut tall clock No. 3397 of Eli Terry's 4 000 clocks made for the Porter Contract c. 1809 30 hour wood movement pull wind painted wood dial with Masonic symbols in the arch that is identical to the numbered Porter Contract clock in the American Clock and Watch Museum original-style lead hour and minute hands and steel seconds and calendar hands original weights case is pine with an old dark finish appears to be complete including center finial with just minor repairable break on right scroll.

Eli Terry (1772-1852) apprenticed to Thomas Harland and was destined to become one of the most famous of watch makers. The oldest of ten children he made his first clock at age 21. In 1800 he started the first clock factory in America at Northbury a part of Plymouth Connecticut.
