Adam Bossard (French, ca. 1637-1703), a pair of engravings from "Habits des Grecs et des Romains", first quarter 20th century, including "Cavaliers Romains" and "Habits des Grecs", the former presented in a gilt-brass-mounted mahogany frame in the First Empire style, the latter in a similarly mounted reeded oak frame, both with matching chocolate-edged melon mats and having backplates papered with pages from the period volume from which the images were taken, overall h. 24", w. 16-3/4".

Volume 1 contains, among many others, 'An Act for establishing the temporary and permanent Seat of the Government of the United States' (page 211-213), Volume 3 page 19-21 list 'An Act to prohibit the carrying on of the Slave-trade from the United States to any foreign place or country.'
