C. 1800- VICTORIAN PAINTED GONE WITHC. 1800- VICTORIAN PAINTED GONE WITH THE WIND LAMPFor your consideration is a Beautiful Victorian Hand Painted Gone With The Wind Kerosene Oil Lamp Electrified, circa 1800s. Stunning green and pink floral motifs adorn both shades of this exquisite lamp! Very ornate font spill ring and base with the original oil reservoir and adjustment knobs. "Made in US of America" on font wick knob. Antique parlor lamps that have two or three globes/glass sections are often called "Gone With the Wind" lamps now. Despite the fact that they are named for the 1939 film, they were popular from 1890 to 1910. The lamp got its name after the film's debut in 1939 because so many similar lamps were used as props in the movie. Ironically, this type of lamp wasn't even made during the Civil War. Parlor lamps, as they also are known, appeared in the 1880s and became especially popular at the turn of the 20th Century. Most major lamp manufacturers made parlor lamps. The lowest globe held the fuel reservoir. Other lamps of this era had a single glass or ceramic shade. This GWTW lamp is in very fine condition, upgraded for single bulbs in both shade sections. Rich patina exhibited on center and base cast iron metal sections. No marring observed. Measures 31"H with chimney, upper globe shade is 10", lower oblong shade is 8"W graduated down to 3"W.*
