An 19th Century Gothic AstronomicalAn 19th Century Gothic Astronomical Regulator Clock by J. Grounds Wigan Lancashire England Made in Wigan England by Johnson Grounds 15 Standishgate active 1840-70. Movement is a large astro on a 14 inch dial. Dial is signed J. Grounds Wigan. The clock was made for a large Manor House or Club in the area and was used in the entrance way to set watches and time the other clocks. Service dates behind dial; J.Odber 1863 R.E.Bold 1878 1890 and 1901 R.1910 1922 1933 and 1946 and MP. Finnemore 1966. Mercury pendulum and weight driven escapement. Beautiful mahogany wood case. Contains mercury; pick up or truck delivery.
