H x 37.5? W x 7.5? D. Note: The schooner yacht Atlantic was built for Wilson Marshall, designed by William Gardner of Gardner and Cox in 1903. Atlantic's claim to fame came in 1905 when she was one of eleven yachts to compete for the Emperor's Cup put up by Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany for a race from New York to Lizard Head, England. She was captained by Charlie Barr, a two-time Americas Cup winner, who drove Atlantic through a violent gale and crossing the Atlantic in 12 days, 4 hours. She was transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard for World War II, and was later used for sail training at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Eventually she was broken up, and attempts to salvage her for restoration failed. She ended her career on the banks of the Delaware River.

- JACK O'HARA (1921-2012) LARGE MIXED
JACK O'HARA (1921-2012) LARGE MIXED MEDIA ON PAPERJack O'Hara (1921 - 2012)Boat Talk (1989)The original work by O'Hara, signed twice lower right and dated 1986, is unusual for its size, quality and medium which employs both watercolor and and a more opaque agent. The composition is interesting in that the foreground of washed-up timbers leads the eye to the ship's hull portrayed in gouache or oil on paper, creating a mood and portraying the hull's surface as shaded from the sun.Sight size measures 17.5 x 28.75 with a framed size of 27.25 x 38.5 inches.Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of damage, trimming, stain, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up. The sheet is not laid down as confirmed here in the images showing it outside the frame.
