ROYAL GEORGE III SATINWOOD, SYCAMORE, THUYA AND MARQUETRY WORK BOXThe top opening to a compartmentalized interior, the underside of the top fitted with a conforming hinged panel centered by an oval patera with cross-cut book veneers within foliate and geometric borders and opening to red paper folio slots and a label inscribed This box was given by Princess Amelia / daughter of George III to her Goddaughter Lady Mary Amelia Grosvenor only daughter of Lord & Lady Westminster. She died young in 1814 to the great grief of her parents. The box was afterwards owned by Caroline Amelia Lady Leigh., the front of the case with a drawer opening to a compartmentalized interior, the sides with brass bail handles

John Gilbert Getty (1968-2020) with Paul ShutlerNote: In 1870 Frederick Vyner (1847-1870) was kidnapped by bandits while travelling in Greece. A large ransom was demanded and, in part, collected before his eventual murder. In his honour his mother Lady Mary Vyner and his sister Lady Ripon used the unspent ransom to commission two churches and this book of common prayer from the architect William Burges whose design for this binding is now held in the collection of the RIBA.The two churches commissioned are The Church of St Mary, Studley Royal and The Church of Christ the Consoler, Skelton-on-Ure, where identical armorial shields are incorporated into the architecture of the external buttresses. A memorial tablet for Frederick Vyner is in York Minster.

The Manor of Stoke Newington was inherited by Lady Mary and Sir Thomas Abney (1640-1722, a principal founder of the Bank of England and Lord Mayor of London in 1700), and it was thereafter named "Abney House". Dr. Isaac Watts (Congregational minister, hymn writer and theologian, 1674-1748) was a houseguest at Abney for 36 years. After 1843 the house was demolished and salvaged for building materials.

Restretched, lined, retouch on forehead, above head at abrasions, possibly at shoulders, crackle, cupping, slight cleavage, some points of flaking, abrasions from frame; frame resurfaced, abrasions, amended rabbet.
