FAWN NAVASIE GARCIA HOPI PUEBLO POLYCHROME LARGE POT, CA 1980. 8"H X 10"DIAM.Fawn Navasie Garcia Hopi Pueblo polychrome large pot, ca 1980., Ex: From the Estate of a long time collector in AZ who collected pieces over a 40-50 year time period. Fawn Garcia Navasie (1959- ), Hopi Pueblo, was formerly known as "Little Fawn". Little Fawn assumed the title Fawn following her mother's death. Fawn's early work is white ware that she did mostly with her mother, Eunice Navasie (Fawn). Her later work is buff or yellow ware that she does with her husband, James Garcia Nampeyo. She claims the white ware is more difficult to make, especially the polishing. Fawn is known for her beautiful polychrome jars that are somewhat egg-shaped with a graceful neck. Eunice "Fawn" Navasie was a sister of Perry Navasie (the husband of Joy "Frogwoman" Navasie) and a sister-in-law of Pauline Setalla. She was the mother of noted potters Dawn Navasie, Dolly "White Swann" Joe, Fawn "Little Fawn" Navasie, and Gregory Navasie. She was known for her whiteware pottery and the use of traditional designs. She won numerous awards in the 1960s and 1970s at Gallup Ceremonials and Santa Fe Indian Market. Her pottery was featured in the May, 1974 Arizona Highways. Dimensions: 9"H x 6 1/2"Diam.
