Remarkable Collection of Wax Seal Impressions, fourth quarter 19th century, with over seven hundred cachets, most identified by paper label, presented in twenty-two custom trays, 12-1/2" x 15", covering a wide variety of royal, noble, civic and ecclesiastic arms, predominantly Belgian but also Dutch, French, Swiss, Austrian and English, including notables the Duke of Wellington and Prince Klemens von Metternich, Belgian cities Louvain and Malines, and with one tray devoted exclusively to the elders of Einsiedeln Abbey, Canton Schwyz, Switzerland, presented in a custom oak case with two compartments, several of the trays notched to accommodate the hinged brass lid-stop, the lid with the collector's plaque "M.H./Cachets/1903", h. 7-1/8", w. 18-1/4", d. 16-1/4".
