There are a total of 82 sketches and drawings in the book and an additional 7 drawings & sketches on old composition paper. The mediums used are oil-sticks, wax sticks/crayons, ink and charcoal. The newspapers that are used to separate the pages are from the NY Post editions in August, October & September of 1979. **We have 110 Photos for this lot, please contact us if you'd like us to email you all the photos** Individual gallery inserts are from: Al Held, Emmerich Gallery NYC, (Nov./ Dec. 1980); Barbara Gray, Ward-Nasse Gallery NYC (June 1978); Tom of Finland, Robert Samuel Gallery (February 1980); Robert Mapplethorpe, Robert Miller Gallery (March/April 1980); Mary Frank, Zabriskie Gallery NYC (April-June 1901). Provenance: based on a letter in the book from David Williams, an art student at NYU in 1979, he met and became friends with Basquiat. In 1980 Basquiat left his art book in Williams' apartment. They shared a 'friendship' and a love of art. Williams died of Aids in the early 1990's.
