- ZUNI SILVER / CORAL BRACELET + RING
ZUNI SILVER / CORAL BRACELET + RING - EDITH TSABETSAYEEdith Tsabetsaye Martza (Native American, Zuni, 1940 - present CE) ca. late 20th to 21st century CE. A stunning silver and needlepoint cut coral cuff bracelet and ring, both made by Zuni silversmith Edith Tsabetsaye, her hallmark signature "EZT" is stamped on the interior of both ("EZM" was used after her marriage). Each piece of coral is hand cut into high domed ovoids and set into sawtooth bezels- a painstaking and time-consuming process for the sheer number and tiny size of the coral! Needlepoint technique is similar to petit point- the notable difference is the raised cut of these inlays. Tsabetsaye is a master jeweler and has won numerous awards and first place at Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial and Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian has jewelry by Edith Tsabetsaye in their collection, catalog numbers: 25/6186 and 25/6184. Size of cuff band: 2.25" Diameter (5.7 cm); cuff opening: 1.125" W (2.9 cm); ring band opening: 0.7" Diameter (1.8 cm); US ring size: 7; silver quality: 92%; total weight: 54.1 grams
