Massachusetts Chippendale tea table with tray top, mahogany throughout, molded rectangular top, shaped skirts, delicate cabriole legs with finely rendered ball-and-claw feet, probably Boston area, 18th century, 27-1/2 x 32 x 21 in. Refinished, knee returns appear to be original, minor surface stains and cracks, break and repair to one ankle with minor loss at back and some color restoration, otherwise good condition with minor flaws. old surface with varnish distress, stains, and wear, minor shrinkage cracks and separations, leg joints with two later nails, catch reset, iron spider lacking one nail (minor separation at leg joint)

H28 1/4'' Dia.36'' Provenance: Descented in the Manley and Robbins family of Massachusetts and Pennsylvania to present heir. These families are direct descendants of William Bradford of the Mayflower and later governor of Plymouth County. refinished; scattered scratches to top surface; butterfly repairs to strengthen joint between two boards of top; repaired pedestal breakout at one leg; other minor imperfections consistent with age.
