ANTIQUE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN LACQUER BOXDESCRIPTION:ANTIQUE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN LACQUER BOXDESCRIPTION: An Antique Imperial Russian Lacquer Box. This is a lidded trinket box by "Vishnyakov Factory" decorated with a hand painted motif on lid depicting a figural group by the forest. The main competitor of the Lukutin workshop was the lacquer workshop of Osip Fillipovich Vishnyakov founded in the nearby village of Ostashkovo in the 1780s. Vishnyakov and his sons produced a variety of papier mache lacquer ware items including: snuff boxes, tea boxes, eyeglass cases, matchboxes, and Easter eggs. They sold their wares in Moscow at the various fairs and markets. This workshop flourished into the mid.1800s. Ref B2. CIRCA: 19th Century. ORIGIN: Russia. DIMENSIONS: W: 4" D: 3 1/4" H: 2 3/4". 5 CHINESE JADE & BOXESGroup of antique5 CHINESE JADE & BOXESGroup of antique Chinese jade items including: One large metal box with a circular jade or hardstone inlay, decorated with a dragon and phoenix along the sides, and with a wooden insert; three metal matchboxes, two with small pieces of jade or hardstone inlay, one lacking the jade; one carved jade or hardstone ashtray.
Height ranges from 1 in to 1 1/2 in; width ranges from 2 1/2 in to 4 3/4 in; depth ranges from 1 1/2 in to 3 1/2 in.
Condition:
The jade is missing from one box. The ashtray has a large chip and crack extending from the chip along the edge. There is another, smaller chip along the edge. Natural lines throughout. To all metal boxes there is heavy wear, scratches, and oxidation throughout. Along the top of the largest box it appears that one of the medallions has been reattached. Along the top of the box missing the jade there is signs of possible water exposure; the area fluoresces under UV light.
