A large scale bronze sculpture of a seated female drinking from a shell, signed on base “Math Moreau” with foundry mark “(illegible) Paris.” On original fitted bronze plinth which allows the sculpture to be turned 360 degrees, 29”H x 12”W x 12”D.Mathurin Moreau was born in 1822 in Dijon, France. Moreau became one of the most sought-after and important sculptors of his time, both during the reign of Napoleon III as well as in the Belle Époque.
