JERRY MCKEEHAN (1938-2022) ACRYLIC ONJERRY MCKEEHAN (1938-2022) ACRYLIC ON CANVASJerry McKeehan (1938-2022)Earth Changes (Third quarter of the 20th century)This lot marks the auction debut of Jerry McKeehan's most mature and developed works, direct from his estate. The monumental work is composed of hundreds of singular, confident, near-sculptural brush strokes in long lines interspersed with pointillist applications and wide flat planes of paint. This technique treats the eye to an exuberant abstracted landscape that seems to explore subterranean ideas as well. The painting is signed within the image front side and titled verso. The following is taken from the artist's web site: Jerry McKeehan received his B.A. with honors from Colorado State University in 1962. Shortly thereafter, Hallmark Cards in Kansas City recruited him as a designer, during which time he studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. He also received a grant from Hallmark to study with watercolorist John Pike in New York.In 1966, Jerry left Hallmark to devote all his energies to painting and his work at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and the Kansas City Art Institute. He also served as artist-in-residence for the Missouri Council of the Art.Jerry has had numerous one-man shows and has been represented in national, regional, and European competitions.Canvas measures 36 x 48, frame size 37.5 x 49.5 inches.Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.Provenance: The estate of Kansas City artist Jerry McKeehan (1938-2022)

JERRY MCKEEHAN (1938-2022) ACRYLIC ONJERRY MCKEEHAN (1938-2022) ACRYLIC ON CANVASJerry McKeehan (1938 - 2022)Volcanic (Third quarter of the 20th century.)This lot marks only the third appearance of artist Jerry McKeehan's most mature and developed works at auction. The monumental work on canvas, fresh from the artist's estate, is composed of thousands of singular, confident, sculptural impasto applications creating the perspective of a distant horizon above a flatland landscape disrupted by bursts of cascading color spilling into a deep foreground canyon with flat walls. The result treats the eye to an exuberant, abstracted perspective of planes above and below the earth's surface in prismatic shafts and bursts of jewel-tone color. The work is displayed in a three-color frame made by the artist. This work is signed within the image front side and titled verso. The following is from the artist's web site: Jerry McKeehan received his B.A. with honors from Colorado State University in 1962. Shortly thereafter, Hallmark Cards in Kansas City recruited him as a designer, during which time he studied at the Kansas City Art Institute. He also received a grant from Hallmark to study with watercolorist John Pike in New York. JERRY MCKEEHAN (MISSOURI 1938-2022)JERRY MCKEEHAN (MISSOURI 1938-2022) ACRYLIC ON CANVASJerry McKeehan (1938-2022)Crystal City (Late 20th Century)This work, direct from the artist's estate, is an example of his trademark style and technique, though in a completely different color palette. The crystalline nature of this painting offers new possibilities for interpreting Jerry McKeehan's other abstracted compositions. Besides offering a vision of brilliantly abstracted landscapes and fantastic subterranean worlds, the spreading shafts of paint on this canvas also bring to mind random, naturally occurring spicate shafts of quartz clusters radiating downward - perhaps explaining the title, Crystal City.Canvas measures 36.25 x 52 with a framed size of 41.5 x 57.5 inches.Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.Provenance: Direct from the artist's estate.
