PR MEISSEN VASES PLUS INKWELL1st and 2nd items: Pair of Meissen Neoclassical style porcelain vases or garniture urns with gilt trim, figural snake or serpent handles, egg and dart molded rims, elaborate hand painted floral spray designs, each raised on a round footed base with fluted and leaf/dart decoration. Underglaze blue crossed sword marks with Arabic numbers below and impressed E 153 to undersides. 10 1/2" H. Circa 1823. 3rd item: Porcelain inkwell, the bisque lid comprised of a figural scene with woman holding a child atop a dog, pitcher with spilled glass and ball beside them and a fence with foliage behind them. Inkwell is glazed with gilt scroll design and removable bisque-bottomed well and sander. Impressed mark S & S. 6" H. Continental, Mid 19th century. Condition:
Loss of gilding to snakes, regilding to other trim on vases. On inkwell, child's hand is missing and there is a repaired chip to the woman's hat; pitcher is missing its handle. Light wear to gilding.

Undersides of both bare the blue crossed swords under glaze. Approx. 9.5'' h x 5'' w. From the collection of the daughter of former Governor Spessard L Holland (WWII era), then US Senator for 24 years, retiring from the US Senate in 1971.

Meissen vase with gilt accents, marked underside, 8" h.; five plates, polychrome floral sprays, 19th C. French marks for Rihouet verso, minor wear to gilt rims, 8 1/2" dia. [Louis Marie François Rihouet (French, b. 1791) was a Paris based porcelain decorator. He retired from business in 1853 and sold his business to Charles Lerosey which continued under the brand Rihouet Lerosey until 1910.]
