19TH C. NATIVE AMERICAN PLAINS INDIANS WOOD / HIDE CLUB...Native American, Central United States, Plains Indians, ca. 19th century CE. An impressive club carved from wood and wrapped in animal hide with a smooth stone striking head secured by a tight leather loop. Ovoid in shape with points at each end, the striking head boasts a lustrous surface of a deep russet hue. The leather covering is sewn with animal sinew, which forms a lovely spiraling seam up the side of the handle and helps to secure the stone head. Size: 4.6" W x 28.7" H (11.7 cm x 72.9 cm)

Small area of damage to hide wrap on bottom of handle as shown. Abrasions to stone head, with expected desiccation to hide wrappings commensurate with age, otherwise intact and very good. Great color to stone and hide wraps.
