Indians ca 1890 6.75 x 9 in. mounted on board 8 x 9.5 in. A large group of Sioux dancers are posed in front of a wood tower probably overlooking the Agency cattle pens. In addition to their dance bells several of the Sioux are holding Winchester rifles. Agency personnel and other white spectators watch the proceedings. Condition: Light even toning to photograph.
Early American Tansel Powder HornEarly American Tansel Powder Horn 16'' length. Engraved with the Eagle clutching arrows and sheaths of wheat E. Pluribus Unum in a banner above the eagle a hunter (i.e. the ''Buckskinner'') hunting deer. Nice serpent's mouth with the teeth carved protruding on to the spout. This particular horn has been nicknamed the ''Buckskinner's powder horn.'' Interesting it has a screw top wood base with iron loop and another iron loop near the spout. One large brass tack has been in the base of the horn for a long time it has a beautiful dark brown halo around it. Condition: Horn is in excellent condition with a nice untouched yellow patina.
