During his first Vietnam tour he was assigned to military intelligence and attached to the Phoenix program. Bryant's second tour assignment was with the 71st Medical Group. He retired from the Army with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Among the numerous awards Bryant received are the Bronze Star "1972, For Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces", the Purple Heart, and Combat Medical Badge. Auction includes Bryant's 1970 U.S. form War Trophy Registration/Authorization and Vietnamese custom forms allowing him to bring the rifle to the U.S.
