- An early 19th century silver mounted
An early 19th century silver mounted horn snuff mull with hinged lid and oval appliqu? engraved with a presentation inscription dated 1811 unmarked 3.25in. Estimate ?200-300 The surface of the mull is quite pitted to the right of the oval applique and down towards the curl. There is a split to the interior rim which travels downwards approximately half an inch the top part of this crack is visible on the exterior also. The engraving on the applique is a little tired. There is a circular silver applique to the lid containg an engraved monogram which again is a little tired. There are numerous hairlines to the interior surface of the lid none of which break the surface. The lid does not shut firmly. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear imperfections or the effects of aging.
