  EARLY EASTERN ORTHODOX CARVED, METAL MOUNTED CROSSEarly Eastern Orthodox carved and metal mounted cross, the double sided carved boxwood or cypress blessing cross with central scene of the crucifixion and the baptism of Christ verso, set within a silvered filigree and beaded frame emanating rays, on a double knobbed stand on a circular base having engraved foliate detail, possibly Mt. Athos, Greece. Considerable wear to cross consistent with an early date, small loss to lower section of cross. The possibly later mount loose, oxidized and with small losses, crude old repair affixing the mount to the stand, loss to outer edge of base.
