A large coastal New England landscape, signed to the bottom left corner ("Aston Knight / Paris") and titled on a tag to the reverse. Presented in a frame that measures 41 1/2" x 54 3/4".
Louis Aston Knight, the son of American expatriate painter Daniel Ridgway Knight, was born in Paris, and there he studied and grew to acclaim as an artist. He is celebrated for his picturesque plein air landscapes of Normandy and the Northeastern United States. Aston Knight was a friend of Claude Monet, occasionally visiting the Impressionist master at his Giverny home to marvel at his gardens. His work was favored by world leaders, including President Warren Harding, who purchased a painting to hang in the White House. Today, Aston Knight's paintings may be found in notable collections around the globe, from the Luxembourg Museum to the Hudson River Museum.
Condition
Good condition. There is a 3/4" linear indentation near the right edge of the canvas. No issues otherwise noted under blacklight inspection.
