Robert Lasalle arrived in New France in 1666 and received a land grant from the Sulpician Order in 1667. Because of Lasalle's obsession with finding a route to the Orient, his seigneurie was nicknamed "La Chine", eventually becoming the municipality of Lachine. Good condition, mounted in the original frame. Signed and dated. H: 6.25"; W: 9" (at sight).
