DATED 1760 AUSTRIAN COVERED PEWTER BEER STEIN Large Stein engraved on the front with a Coat-of-Arms, the lid also engraved with the following inscription: "Solche Kaan Hat Denen Geseln Geschenk oder der Herbers Vater Andres Wenk, ao 1760" (Such a Kaan was given to their journeyman or the Herber's father Andres Wenk, ao 1760). Otherwise unmarked. 12 3/4" x 5 3/4" diam. Repair to handle and foot.

Lot of four German porcelain beer steins. Painted porcelain with pewter lids and finials. Various sizes. One medium sized stein has a music box built into the base but it is not running and is marked on the side ''Jagers. Einkehr.''. Small stein is blue & white glazed with a two figure scene (unmarked). Large stein is marked ''Huf Der Hlm.'' on front with an intricate figural scene. Fourth is marked ''Den Glucklichen schlcigt keine Stunde.'' on front ''Schaffen froh Gemut'' on side and ''Bier Lieb und Lied'' on opposite side and is stamped ''Germany'' on base. Conditions: some dents/dings to pewter lids minor loss to paint signs of age to glaze music box stein is not running and has had base repaired medium sized green stein has chips and a repair to inside lid lid repaired some lids slightly askew see images. Smallest measures 5'' tall and the tallest measures 15'' tall. Shipping weight 5 lbs.
