A Sèvres Blue and Blanc Jasper Portrait Roundel of Napoleon inscribed Bertrand Andrieu (French 1761-1822) "Sevres/M. Imp 1810" en verso marked in script brass hanging frame marked "LE CHAUVE" diameter 5 1/8 in. Note: Bertrand Andrieu was one of the most celebrated medallists in France during the reign of Napoleon. First apprenticed to Andre Lavau and in 1786 he traveled to Paris to enter the workshop of Nicolas-Marie Gatteaux. After a brief hiatus from metals during the French Revolution he created some of the most celebrated and circulated images of the Emperor Napoleon and found favor under the later Bourbon Restoration.
