This is a self portrait of Byerley, John (?) bought it from Byerley' in pencil on the reverse.The scene inside a cabin with light coming from a window to the left of the two figures, one singing and the other crying for one reason or another, appears slightly lighter here than in person. The work displays Byerley's skill for depth and light in a composition. The inscription identifies this as a self-portrait. It's unclear which of the two might be Bob.Board measures 10.5 x 13.25 with a framed size of 14.25 x 17 inches.Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
