112. INKWELL CANE -CA. 1900 -EBONY KNOB TURNED IN A BAR...112. Inkwell Cane -Ca. 1900 -Ebony knob turned in a barrel shape and fitted with a glass inkwell, ebony shaft and a metal ferrule. The upper part of the barrel unlocks to reveal the inkwell and, with a built in feather operated cap, keeps the ink from flowing when the cane is in use. Used and with the rightful feel of age. -In the 19th century before the advent of fountain pens, writing with ink posed a problem when away from one’s desk. Portable inkstands and small desks with all the writing implements often accompanied travelers on long journeys.
