TWO SPRINGFIELD RIFLES, CIVIL WAR ERAone marked Remington's 1857, the other US Springfield 1864. The earlier model with loss to lock and lacking ramrod. The larger: 57 1/2" long, 42" barrel; the smaller: 55" long, 40" barrel. Estate condition with wear and oxidation to both.

The Nicholas Wolf Springfield Rifle/ Musket Model 1863, lockplate marked "Springfield 1864", 40 in. barrel marked "Nicholas Wolf./Co. I(orJ).195.P.V." and "1863", two clear inspectors' cartouches on stock, butt plate marked "US"; lot accompanied by Benson Lossing, A History of the Civil War, with reproductions of Brady photographs, inside panel of book with 11-1/2 x 8-1/2 in. oil painting of Nicholas Wolf standing with rifle in hand, marked at base "Co. I.195.PA.", marked lower right "N Wolf 1865", and accompanied by GAR reunion certificate dated November 5, 1920, stating that Nicholas Wolf was 75 years old on that date, born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and served as a private in Company J, 195 Pennsylvania Volunteers Regiment; discharged January 31, 1866, having entered the service February 11, 1865.
