Stamped "R.MERKELBACH GRENZHAUSEN 12 S". Offered with two other 20th c. stoneware steins. One depicts six drinking monkeys dressed in Northern European garb, with a cobalt glaze, measuring 6 inches high, and stamped "1766 GERMANY 9". The other is a lidded stein with Art Nouveau inspired designs, with a brown glaze, measuring 5.5 inches high.
