A striking and rare terracotta sun face mask of a convex discoid form enveloped in burn orange slip with vertical stripes of cream pigment below the eyes representing tears. Powerfully stylized, the ancient vizard displays slender, slit-form eyes with delineated lids, a bulbous nose, and a thin, openwork mouth. The entirety of the visage is encircled by a raised border of incised, diagonal lines, perhaps intended to represent sun rays. Size: 6.4" Diameter x 8.8" H (16.3 cm x 22.4 cm)
