AFTER ALBRECHT DURER (GERMAN, 1471-1528) 5 ¼" x 4 ¼" The Small Passion Series; Sheet 19 "Ecco Homo - Christ Presented to the People" (1509) and Sheet 33 "Christ Appearing to the Apostles [The Doubting Thomas]" (1510). Pair of later impressions from Albrecht Durer's original 16th-century woodcuts with monogrammed signatures in the plates, no watermarks or text, each floated in a shadowbox frame, overall 11 ½" x 9". The first edition of "Small Passion" was published in 1511, with the Latin text on the reverse; in Venice, in 1612, it was published with the Italian text. "The Small Passion" was incredibly popular in different countries of Europe. The prints from it were republished till the 20th century, as a full cycle or as separate sheets.

Note: Mommard is best known for his meticulous copies of 36 of Albrecht Dürer's woodcuts. The first edition of Mommard's copies appeared in 1587 and the second in 1644.
