MOURNING PICTURE AND TOWEL. AmericanMOURNING PICTURE AND TOWEL. American or German 4th quarter-19th century hair and glue on glass. Weeping willow over monument. In a frame 15 1/2''h. 13 1/2''w. And an early 19th-century hemmed linen towel with later red embroidery. 40 1/2''l. 13''w. Monument inscribed ''J.S. / geb 20 [5] / 187 [0] gest 07 / 18[7]4.'' The design is glued to the underside of a piece of glass. A second piece of glass underneath this is cracked but is not adhered to the design. However movement of the broken pieces does cause wear to the design. The design has loss and loose pieces. Design is made of all hair. The linen is embroideried ''Mary Scullenberger 1825'' and a spray of flowers in late 19th century fashion.
