To the right presumably a group of "contrabands" pause with wooden wheelbarrows stacked with blankets. The location of the partially painted ramshackle buildings is unknown. One clapboard structure bears neatly painted signage as an Eating House. This is likely a post like Vicksburg or somewhere in the deep South where uniformed blacks would be commonplace. Mount is spotted showing heavy foxing as well as damaged corners.
