EARLY AMERICAN WARSHIP MODEL HandmadeEARLY AMERICAN WARSHIP MODEL Handmade Wooden Model of the USS Frigate "Essex", the three-masted gunship, launched in 1799, by Enos Briggs of Salem, Massachusetts. She carried 36 or 32 guns, took part in the French Quasi-War, the first Barbary War and the War of 1812. The British captured her and she was used by the Royal Navy under the same name until they auctioned her off in 1837. The model is 21 1/2" x 29 1/2" x 9". Rigging needs some touch-up.
