Marble top added later. Marble has several repaired long vertical cracks across it where it was previously broken. There are chips (5 larger chips on the edges and scattered smaller chips and nicks) and scuffing to the marble. The buffet is in need of repair where the top left panel is unsupported due to separation of the side panel from the front left corner. There are further missing bits of wood on the lower corner. The hinges on the right door are bent and the door is hanging slightly askew. One interior shelf. Hall (1885-1972) of a camp scene with one man cooking on the fire while the other does some patching on a birchbark canoe. Signed T.H. Hall. Tom Hall emigrated from England in 1907 and became a well-known illustrator producing artwork for posters, calendars and magazine covers. He was also commissioned by the Dominion Cartridge Company (owned by C-I-L) where his artwork was the basis of numerous posters and calendars depicting Canadian wildlife and Canadian hunters. In the 1930s Tom Hall was one of the key artists for Canadian Pacific poster designs with his 1938 grizzly poster for CP winning him the Transit Advertisers award for finest poster in the travel division. Throughout the 1930s, 40s and early 1950s his artwork was a mainstay for Rod & Gun in Canada magazine. Dimensions, 23" x 37". FRANCAIS: Grande huile sur toile non encadrée de Tom H. Hall (1885-1972). The netting is made from knotted leather strips and the panels are decorated with a zigzag pattern of coloured and flattened porcupine quills along with wool tassels. Very good condition, woven handle intact. Ex Mickey Ryan collection. From 1918-1940 Mickey Ryan and his brother Pat operated an exclusive freight route over the Fitz-Smith portage (Northwest Territories) where this object was collected. Dimensions, 20.5" x 12" x 3". FRANCAIS: Sac de récolte en babiche de l'Athapascan de l’est, fin du 19e siècle, généralement utilisé pour la chasse et le transport du petit gibier. Le sac est fait de lanières de cuir nouées et tressées, les panneaux sont décorés d'un motif en zigzag de piquants de porc-épic colorés et il est ornés de pompoms en laine. Très bon état, sangle tissée intacte. Ex-collection Mickey Ryan.
