AFTER C. DELPECH, COPELAND PARIAN BUST OF CLYTIE After the original modeled by C. Delpech, a Copeland & Garret Parian ware bust of Clytie, 1881, depicting the water nymph emerging from a flower, produced by the Art Union of London, and signed on socle "C. Delpech. Redt." and "Art Union of London." 14.5" H x 9.75" W x 6.5" D. Note: The Art Union of London was founded in 1837, the first of many Art Unions established around Europe and America. The society existed to promote art by distributing specially-commissioned works by means of a lottery among its members. C. Delpech was a sculptor and modeler for the Minton factory in the mid-19th century. Another example of this model is in the collection of the British Museum, acq. 1991, inv. no. 0612.1.
