Jamieson" and opening to a gilt-tooled dark red morocco leather writing surface and a row of small compartments fitted with two clear glass ink pots with sterling silver locking caps and a pounce pot with sterling cap (all London, 1824, untraced mark SN); the pin-locked side drawer compartmentalized and appointed with clear glass soap and sponge boxes and a third oblong box of wood (a skillful replacement), all with sterling covers (London 1834, mark of Wm Neal), a circular glass box with sterling lid (London, 1838, probably mark of Thomas Diller), two stoppered clear glass bottles with unmarked silver screw caps, an apparently unmarked silver retractable shaving brush with monogrammed lid, a vintage German straight razor, a small turned bone ointment jar with screw cap, and two brass-inlaid rosewood lids on a bespoke extendable stand allowing the writing slope to be deployed.
