  19TH C. ENGLISH BOXWOOD & IVORY CLARINET BY D'ALMAINENorthwestern Europe, England, London, ca. 1834 to 1867 CE. This is a beautiful boxwood B-flat clarinet made by D'Almaine & Co, with brass keys and elephant ivory joints. The mouthpiece is not original and is a vintage ebony wood type. The upper and lower joints and barrel contain maker marks and crown emblem, while the bell contains the full stamp: "D'ALMAINE & CO. / LATE GOULDING & D'ALMAINE / SOHO SQUARE / LONDON." The clarinet underwent many changes in the 19th century - everything from materials, number of keys, size, and tone were being adjusted and a standard design had not been adopted by many musicians until the mid-19th century. Size: 24.5" L x 3" W (62.2 cm x 7.6 cm) This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington. Good replaced leather pads, some tarnishing, includes modern padded neck strap and many reeds. 6" x 24" x 10 1/2" Conn vintage hardcase with green lining, outside worn.

  A 19th century ivory mounted maple clarinet by E. Lamb Corton with another clarinet by R. W. Keith Cheapside London 23.5ins - a.f. Estimate ?150-250 Lamb clarinet has two cracks to the bottom section largest about 3ins and a crack to the ivory mounts at the bottom of this which has got a staple repair each section clearly stamped with makers name all metal keys generally tarnished etc. Two small cracks around the knop section of the 2nd section of the clarinet with three small holes here general age wear to surface throughout. Other clarinet - 3 of the ivory mounts have been poorly replaced with some sort of resin residue which is dulled and rather ugly in appearance a couple of slight hairline cracks here and there general tarnishing to keys etc. Both are in need of attention and both are as found and not subject to return. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
