17th century British needlework, two figures, soldier with tents in background, woman in court dress in front of buildings, oval panel surrounded by stylized flowers, insects and birds above lion and leopard, silk on silk ground, British, late 17th century, 17 x 21 in. (sight); wood frame. Extensive fading and browning to silk, approximately 1-1/2 x 6 in. area with losses of silk ground and some shattering, losses to embroidered elements, possible pest damage; frame with losses and chips.

Charles II Stumpwork Panel English 17th century a stumpwork panel with complex depiction of a couple probably royal surrounded by symbolic animals and plants - grapes and vine acorns and oak leaves a leopard a snail and over-sized flowers with both figures surmounted by the sun's rays emerging from clouds all on a silk ground in a later frame; 8.25 x 12 in. Property from the Collections Of Historic Madison Inc. Condition: Extensive wear is some areas with corresponding loss of fiber.

Condition commensurate with age, stained upper left corner.
