FOURTEEN MANUSCRIPT PAGES FROM
FOURTEEN MANUSCRIPT PAGES FROM MONISTIC RECORD CIRCA 14...Manuscript on rag paper with water marks, Northern France. A very interesting Monastic record from about 1400, detailing visits of various dignitaries, mostly ecclesiastical, all in the same hand. There are seven pages, all but one written both front and back in "cursiva format," a writing style particularly associated with northern France. Dimensions: 8 by 5.75 inches. Processing and shipping in the U.S. $25.00 plus replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
Quite good condition, with some minor foxing, and a few minor ink stains. Edges of paper are slightly frayed and darkened with minor tears but generally good and legible. A 16TH CENTURY VOLUME OF DEMOSTHENES AND AN EARLY 17TH CENTURY VOLUME OF BEDE As follows: Gnomologia Demosthenica (Basel: Hervagius,1570), small 8vo (7-1/2 in.), tooled vellum boards, the date "1570" period inscribed on the front cover, 1,300+ pp., each section with index, early manuscript notes on paste downs (slight warping to top board; damp stains to upper right corner of the first 100+ pages and thereafter the leaves are quite clean, solid, and tightly bound; expected soiling to boards (Very good condition for age); plus, Venerabilis Bedae Anglo-Saxonis Presbyteri in Omni Disciplinarum Genere Sua... (Cologne: Hieratus and Gymnicus, 1612), being the fifth volume from a set of the "Venerable Bede's" history of Anglo-Saxon Britain, folio (15-1/2 in.), tooled leather boards with brass hasps. (Wear to boards; sound binding; the leaves with age toning, foxing and some light stains).

This is the amended first edition of Pierre Tataret's discussion of Aristotle's Nichomachan Ethics. The cover has been replaced with a 15th Century page from a dutch book of hours and the front flyleaves and last pages of the index are missing. Superb woodcut illustrations include title page with Virgin and Child in a ship. Dimensions: 5 3/4 by 4 by 3/8 inches. Processing and shipping in the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement insurance cost.
Condition:
Cover has been replaced, and there is insect damage and a small hole in the front is piece, which also slightly abraded. Pages have some minor folds and finger marks.
